In Reading, we focus on comprehension, accuracy, fluency and expanding our vocabulary.
In T2, we practised comprehension strategies including summarising, inferring and synthesising. We used sentence stems to help us think about our reading, e.g, ‘At first I thought… now I’m thinking…’.
We also studied author Aaron Blabey, discussing the themes and character traits used in his texts. Students learnt how to ‘lift a line’ - explaining what Aaron Blabey meant by what he wrote, e.g, ‘He complained so much his head fell off!’
Students participate in guided reading groups and conferring 1:1. They also have personal reading goals that help us direct their independent reading focus.

I appreciate blogs that focus on helping readers instead of just chasing clicks.
