In Reading, we focus on comprehension, accuracy, fluency and expanding our vocabulary. In T2, we practised comprehension strategies including summarising, inferring and synthesising. We used sentence stems to help us think about our reading, e.g, ‘At first I thought… now I’m thinking…’. We also studied author Aaron Blabey, discussing the themes and character traits used in his texts. In Spelling, we run Spelling Clinics that target spelling needs in small groups. We also teach 'Word Study' for 1 hour a week, that focuses on letters, sounds and words. We run 'Look, Say, Name' for 10 minutes, 3 times per week to practise our own personal words, and complete a partner spelling test weekly. Our personal words come from assessments and also our writing.
