Reading Tristan Bancks

Reading this term has centred around an author study of Tristan Bancks, where our Grade 5/6 students explored the craft behind his engaging novels. Students compared and analysed Detention, Cop & Robber, Scar Town and The Fall, examining how Bancks uses setting, dialogue, action, inner voice and suspense to engage readers.

Students strengthened their comprehension by lifting lines from the text, developing their Reader's Notebook tracks and using their responses to deepen their understanding. Students have also begun engaging in close reading and strategy groups to support learning at their individual point of need.

Students have shown great growth in their confidence as readers and their understanding of an author's craft.
