In writing this term, the students are learning what it means to be an author. They have been working on creating their own books, where they explore different ideas, the structure of storytelling, and forming letters using the sounds they hear in words.
Students have learnt the process of writing a story. Selecting an idea, drawing pictures that tell a story, and then having a go at labelling their pictures with the sounds they hear. They then build on their stories by having a go at writing letters and words on the page. We focus heavily on our letter strip to help us match sounds to letters, as well as utilising our high frequency words.
Next term the students will begin to explore recount and non-fiction writing, which we are looking forward to!
