Numeracy

This term, our Grade 5/6 students have been learning about money and statistics through engaging, real-world activities.

In our money unit, students developed essential life skills by adding and subtracting dollars and cents, calculating percentage discounts, rounding amounts and solving money word problems. They applied these skills through role-play activities using real money and a café menu.

In Statistics, students collected their own data and represented it using picture graphs, double bar graphs and pie charts. They also learnt to interpret graphs and analyse the information they presented.

It has been wonderful to see students build confidence while applying their mathematical skills in meaningful, everyday contexts.
