Measurement in 1/2

In ½, students have been investigating measurement with informal units. We have discussed the importance of measuring accurately which involves:

  • Measuring right from the edge of the object

  • Tiling

  • Leaving no gaps

  • Measuring the object from the top to the bottom

  • No overlapping.

Students enjoyed measuring a range of objects using a variety of informal units e.g. hand spans, teddy bears, pencils, textas and magnets.
