Grade 1/2 Writing

In ½ we have been using some creative ways to inspire the students writing. In one example a mystery box appeared in the classroom with a message of ‘DO NOT OPEN’. All the students were incredibly excited about this prompt and many theories bounced around the room about what was in the box. Students were able to draw an image of them opening the box and their mystery item jumping out at them which was then developed into a writing piece. Another day the ½ students came to school to discover a crash zone outside the classroom. An area had been taped off with witches hat and spray paint on the ground to get their imaginations running wild. The students loved coming up with their own stories about what had happened and it was great to see this translated into creative and descriptive writing pieces. What will be next?
