Last week the 3/4 students travelled to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat for a three day camp. On their journey they stopped at the Eureka Stockade battle site followed by a visit to the Old Ballarat Cemetery to see where the diggers from the battle were buried. In History at school, the 3/4 students have been studying the life of the Australian diggers, the Chinese journey from Robe to Ballarat, techniques used to find gold and the Australian Gold Rush. We were very proud to see the students utilise this knowledge while on camp and see their knowledge develop even further. While on camp students experienced many memorable moments including going down the Red Hill Mine, watching the 'Blood on the Southern Cross' show, going back in time to school, watching a blacksmith in action, seeing candles being made and some students even going on a horse and cart.
It was great seeing students of Woori Yallock Primary represent our school in a polite and friendly manner while creating life time memories.
We all would like to thank Donna and Paul our wonderful parent helpers, who went above and beyond to help make this camp one to remember.
