Chemical Science in 1/2

In 1/2 we have started our chemical science unit. We have been learning about solids, liquids and gases and how these substances can change when they are combined. Students are observing the substances before the experiment and documenting a hypothesis and outcome for each experiment. Our first experiment we created cloud dough by combining cornflour and conditioner. The students were surprised and excited to see the changes in the two substances when they were combined. Our second experiment we attempted to make ice cream without an ice cream maker. Unfortunately our ice cream did not freeze! The students believe it unsuccessful because we did the experiment out in the sun and there was not enough ice to submerge all the bags of ice cream. Well done 1/2 scientists!
