School Council

Woori Yallock School Council is an elected body of parents, teachers and community representatives.  The School Council Act strongly encourages community involvement and has delegated many duties formerly controlled by the Department of Education to local School Councils.

These delegated duties include administration of school finances, minor capital works to buildings and grounds, employment of non-teaching staff and participation in the development of school policy.  It can only function effectively with the support of parents in its many areas of involvement.  The Council conducts its affairs through a series of committees, membership of which is open to anyone interested in the particular area of that committee’s responsibility.

The committees are:

Finance

Education (Policy & Curriculum)

Canteen

Facilities

The council meets monthly at 7.00pm in the staffroom. Parents are welcome to attend and contribute to discussions or raise matters of interest or concern.

Membership of the Council is open to interested parens of students at Woori Yallock Primary School who are nominated and elected by parents of the school. There is opportunity for one co-opted member from the community. The term of office on the Council is two years, half the Council retire annually.
