I.T Program

Our school is an innovative and advanced school in the computer field. We have a lab of 25 computers. These computers have access to Webcams, microphones, digital microscopes and a scanner. The senior classes have six computers in each classroom. The two middle grades have a lab of 10 computers:

and the junior school has between three and four per grade. All computers have access to laser colour and black printers.

In our lab we have a data projector for demonstrating new programs, teaching new computer skills, presenting finished computer activities and for videos and DVDs.

We have a data projector for use in classrooms so that teachers can use laptops and white boards to present activities for students and to bring outside information via the Internet into class lessons.

Every class has a digital camera for children's use, and a digital video camera for both adult and student use.

Our children use email( their own email or class accounts) and for research they are to use the Internet via the Education Channel that acts as a very good filter for schools. The programs we use cover all aspects of the curriculum. The Arts can be accessed via Internet and through various drawing and graphics programs, as well as different photo editing programs such as PhotoStory. We have a multitude of very good mathematics programs from Grade Prep to senior High school levels. Children have spelling, phonics and typing programs as well as reference programs such as Encarta. All the Microsoft Office programs are available and used for publishing. We use Kahootz as a multi media program, Microworlds for Logo and Kidspiration or Visio for organisation and planning.

For the future we envisage more use of other technological devices such as videocameras and film editing, voice programs, and music software. It is intended that children will build their own web sites within the school intranet and that communication will improve within the school via email. Students are building a solid foundation of computer understanding and skills from Prep and are able to keep valued work from previous years so that they have a portfolio of their best work before they finish Primary School.

We are always happy to have parent input into our e-Learning environment and any help at computer times is gratefully received. Any parent who needs help with computers is welcome to visit and we will help whenever possible.
